•“The best way to make your feedback heard is to make the listener feel safe, and to show that you’re saying it because you care about them and want them to succeed.” – Julie Zhuo, The Making of a Manager
Starting in the June 16th and running through the rest of June, I will implement one-on-one meetings with each team member at Vilocity to talk through their current workload, project prioritization, information needed for projects, issues or questions, and anything else they need to go over. Hearing the stories from other members of the leadership group pushed me to request this opportunity from my managers (thanks Ron and Jen!). After presenting it to the team everyone seemed very receptive and excited.
This next step in my leadership journey is a daunting one because it opens me up to receive feedback from my team on how projects I run are performing, as well as how the environment in the workplace is as a whole. While this might be uncomfortable to begin with I believe it will strengthen the team and allow for open communication and trust.
The happier the team is more productive the team will be. According to this Forbes article.
“The biggest obstacle to increasing your self-awareness is the tendency to avoid the discomfort that comes from seeing yourself as you really are.”

This quote really resonates with me. Too many times people get caught up in making sure their feedback gets heard and not understood.
